Coffey Residential is a London studio of architects designing homes across the capital and the UK. Phil Coffey founded the practice in 2005, and twenty years on, he is on every project.
The questions that interest us are quiet ones. How a room reads at half past four in February. How a stair takes the morning. What a house feels like in five years, and in fifty.

Meadow Grove
A four-bedroom new build in Barnes, organised around a triple-storey stair. Clay plaster, dark timber, marble and a monolithic kitchen island in ice-white concrete.
Garden Lodge
An Edwardian lodge with a modern extension, set out as three volumes — kitchen and dining, living, and a detached gym — with polished concrete floors and frameless skylights.
Cove Ridge
A five-bedroom sustainable seaside home built into a reclaimed quarry above the North Devon coast. White render, ash joinery, slate-grey polished concrete. Winner, RIBA Regional Award 2023.
Modern Barn
A sustainable three-bedroom new build on the Jurassic Coast — three single-storey buildings clad in untreated larch on a locally quarried limestone base.
Modern Detached
A four-bedroom family house in a suburban street: two interlocking volumes — a serrated brick house and a charred timber slat insert — around a brass stair and a single circular skylight.
Helios House
An apartment inside the restored Television Centre, organised around concentric rings that follow the building’s curve and the Helios statue at its centre. Perforated brass screens, curved internal walls.

Design
Concept and scheme design. Feasibility, briefing, sketch ideas through to a resolved architectural proposition for your house.
Planning
Planning applications, listed building consent, pre-application advice and conservation area work. London boroughs are our home turf.
Detail
Technical design and detailing — every junction, joint and finish drawn at one-to-one. The drawings the builder actually needs.
Project management
Tendering, contract administration and site supervision. We stay on site from first dig to final snag, weekly.
